Who's in it: Troy Garity, Sissy Spacek, Rebecca Romijn
What's it about: Billy (Garity) returns to the small-town house of his mother (Spacek) after years of absence, with trouble on his trail.
Seclusion: Billy's on the run from a drug dealer (rocker Dave Matthews), who thinks Billy has stolen a fortune in cocaine and heroin (actually, it's Billy's junkie ex-girlfriend who took the drugs). He's accompanied by a young boy, who is actually his son but doesn't know it. Even though Billy hasn't seen his mother in years, she's strangely distant - until the two of them confront the unspoken tragedy that has kept them apart. This drama walks familiar ground - about making amends and dealing with the past, about facing responsibility and growing up. Garity gives a soulful performance and Spacek is touching as a mother still blaming herself for a life-altering accident. But the film takes a sudden turn to action a la "History of Violence" that seems pretty random.
Long story short: It will choke you up - then let you down.
